About the Author
My name is Glen Robins and I love a good adventure. If I’m not out there participating in one, I’m writing or reading about one. From a young age, I learned to love the outdoors by camping, hiking, biking, backpacking, canoeing, scuba diving, climbing, and repelling with my family and friends. The outdoors and exploring new places and meeting new people has inspired much of my creativity.
In addition to my own experiences, I enjoy reading about others’ adventures, whether real or made up. Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn were among the first books I ever read and they inspired me to keep reading more. The more I read, the more I loved it. Eventually, that love of reading inspired me to start writing, partly at my mother’s insistence. She has encouraged and prodded me along this journey of creating people and events and stories.
I started my first novel in 1993 as I was waiting for a client to show up for an appointment. He never showed, but by the end of the allotted time, I had written over twenty pages of a story I made up as I went along. As it turns out, I never quite finished that novel. Maybe someday I will, if I can overcome the hurdle I ran into so many years ago: trying to tie up all the loose ends in a compelling, plausible climax. But, the world has changed since then, so my premises and settings would all require some pretty hefty updating.
But, the seed was planted. Writing turned from a mere hobby into an ambition fifteen years later. Again, I sat in my office – a different office, running a different kind of business in a different city – waiting for a client to show up. Again, I had a story percolating in my head. It had been there for weeks, affecting my moods. After I decided to put my thoughts into words on a computer, I realized that with a few tweaks and twists, I could formulate a compelling plot, likeable characters, fascinating settings, and a dynamic storyline. Thus began a five-year odyssey to bring Collin Cook, his family and friends, and his story to life. I am very attached to these characters and their inner workings because I have worked so hard to develop them over the years.
The “Off” series represents my first published works, but these three books won’t be my last. I have concept pages for about a dozen more books after I finish this series.
I hope you enjoy reading Collin’s adventure as much as I have enjoyed writing it. I also hope you will tell your friends and family about it.
Thanks for stopping by my website. Take some time and check out my blog (http://www.glenrobinsbooks.com/blog/) where you can find more of my writings in much smaller doses. Here I share some of my musings on a variety of topics and invite you to join the discussion by leaving comments on the page. Some of the thoughts I write about are deep, some are just fun. Hopefully, we can share a new kind of adventure together as we dialogue about subjects that affect us all.
Enjoy the adventures!
